Enjoying Paradise...

These are the weekends when I REALLY enjoy living in Florida. How could I not?? I guess living in one of the top tourism states has it's perks. I remember when we first moved here I said "It feels like we're on vacation"... Years later, it still pretty much feels the same. So sitting out here on the balcony (under a partly cloudy sky), mentally making plans for today. The beach is out, since it looks like rain today. Breakfast sounds good. I'll see who else is up to it. Went here last time, may try it again this morning.

Speaking of clouds. It's been unusually gray since about yesterday afternoon. According to the weather report, there's another 'cool front' coming through this week. When will it finally warm up??

Friday...

I love Fridays (and Mondays, and Tuesdays and)....well you get the picture. I have such an 'atypical' job. There's absolutely no pattern to my work week so I really don't prefer one day over the others. I read somewhere that Tuesdays are the most productive day of the week. Makes sense when you think about it. Fridays are the slack off day for some people, then there's the weekend. And when Monday rolls around, you're not quite there yet until Tuesday. So...Tuesday wins as the most productive day of the week.

But it's Friday, and I'll celebrate none the less. I've been so busy these past few weekends so I'm looking forward to BB Kings on Saturday...(or Sunday). Not sure which day we're going, though.

I didn't pass out yesterday, afterall :) I had some BIG help with putting all my stuff together and got to spend the day with sis, niece and nephews. I took a short nap then got right back into it. I finished up around 1am but I'll save the rest for next week. Well the weekend's halfway over but I think I'll be taking it easy at home. It's too cloudy for the beach- don't really want to take the chance of going out if it looks like it's going to rain. I could just veg on the couch until Monday but I'd probably lay around thinking of all the things I *could* be doing instead. Well I need to finish the closet. I'm reorganizing my work wardrobe and trying to keep things simple. I used to find myself rummaging through my closet and putting outfits together (or trying to put them together) so by the time I'm done, I should have a few basic outfits, already put together, set aside just for work. Probably wondering why I have a picture of the Jetsons on this blogpost? Well yesterday, while standing in my closet, knee-deep in clothes, I was thinking of the Jetsons. How nice it would be to have a closet with rotating shelves and racks. Oh and a robot maid would be nice, too.

If I were a coffee drinker...

...I'd be drinking coffee right now. I was up for 24 hours yesterday and I'm starting to feel it. How did that happen? I'm not even sure but I went to work, came home, ran errands, did *some* organizing, rearranging, packing...and before I knew it, it was the next day. UGH- Apparantly, I had tons of energy yesterday but I guess I'll pay for it today. Well, the weekend's not over yet so I still have some time to relax. The beach is looking good for tomorrow yet, in all this chaos (boxes, bins and suitcases), I can't seem to find my beach blankets! I always keep a pair of flip flops and beach umbrella in the trunk for those days when I need to escape. Speaking of escape-- I want to take a weekend cruise somewhere. Nothing like a 'lazy vacation' to help you recharge. And talk about lazy, I don't want to drive too far to get to the port so I'm considering 'Celebration Cruise Line' since they're now sailing from West Palm Beach.

Mayor Vows To Improve Sonoma Bay - West Palm Beach News Story - WPBF West Palm Beach

"When one goes down, we all go down..." I guess this is something I should keep in mind since I'm so set on buying into a community.

On to my next adventure!

No new entries in February? Hmm... must have been an uneventful month. (NOT)! February was my busiest so far. Where do I begin? I started a new position (SENIOR mental health therapist!!), I'm house hunting and I'll be seeing more of the Treasure Coast in the next few months ;-) I put my paperwork together for my state internship- I'm actually waiting on one letter and I'll have my new supervisor sign off. Ahhhhh....one step closer to licensure!

The house hunting part is fun, too. I am just at the beginning of it all but I'm adding to my wish list. I haven't even narrowed down to whether I want a townhouse or single, but I do know I want a 2-story home. I can hear Poppy's voice in the back of my head, "Don't buy a townhouse, you won't have a yard, you have to pay hoa fees, you don't own the land". A yard? I don't need one. I won't be planting trees, I don't have kids or pets to worry about and if I feel the need to run around in the grass, I'll visit them for the weekend ;) HOA fees? Mortgage/taxes/HOA would still be less than rent. I found a 3/2 with a garage just south of the Gardens for 65k. Great neighborhood and gated community. I found out that most of the homes in that community sold for over 200k 6 years ago. I don't mind buying in this low- I have no plans on reselling if I can get it cheap. My neighbor put some bids on a couple of houses there.

I also found this 'hidden' area south of Jupiter (near FAU). Beautiful townhomes- similar architecture to the apartment community I live in but even nicer. It's off of a really pretty tree-lined street and sort of curves off into its own corner of the neighborhood. Those homes are going for $120-$155. Not bad but the hoa fees are pretty steep.

I LOVE palm beach county but work is calling me elsewhere. So in the meantime, I'm having Timmy play real estate agent and help me find some nice places up and down the coast. He's well connected in the area and I need a real 'insiders' point of view of all the neighborhoods here. I'm also keeping my ears open incase my neighbor has any tips for me. This is SOOOO exciting. The next couple of months had better fly by :)
